How to Play

• Unlike every other maze on this site, Photo Finish is not the same for everyone — every single race generates a brand new set of four lanes on the spot, seeded by the exact moment you start. Hit a level button again and you get a completely different track, even seconds later.
• You're in Lane 1, at the top. Three rivals occupy Lanes 2 through 4 below you. All four lanes are separate mazes, generated independently — nothing is shared between them except the moment the race starts.
• Every lane is the same length, three cells tall and long enough that it takes real navigation to cross. Move the brass marker (you) to the right edge of your own lane — that's your finish line.
• The rivals move on their own, always along the shortest possible route through their own maze — they never make mistakes. Their pace is randomized fresh every race within a window set by level and day — you never know beforehand exactly which speed you'll get, but the range itself gets tighter and faster as both go up. At the hardest combination, Extreme on a Sunday, the fastest possible rival finishes in about 18 seconds.
• The moment you reach your own finish line, your own input stops — but the race itself keeps going. The camera switches to follow whichever rival is still furthest ahead, so you can watch the rest play out.
• Once only one lane is left unfinished — yours or a rival's — a 10-second countdown begins. If that last lane doesn't finish before it runs out, the whole race ends right there. If it's you who's left, that means you can DNF: you can lose even after everyone else looks slow, so don't dawdle once you're the only one left.
• Finishing your own lane still counts as a solve for your streak, regardless of placement — a DNF (running out the clock as the last lane standing) does not.
• Every racer leaves a live trail behind them in their own color, visible the whole race, not just at the end.
• The track gets longer through the week — Monday's the easiest, Sunday's the hardest — and the rivals get faster right along with it. Pick a level, Beginner through Extreme — it makes the maze itself more tangled and pushes rival pace faster too, on top of whatever the day already adds.
