The Duel

How to Play

• Every single duel is fresh — seeded by the exact moment you start, never the same maze twice, not even against the same level a second later.
• You and one rival each have your own private six-row maze. Move the red marker (you) toward the right edge of your own maze — that's your finish line.
• Between your maze and your rival's sits a contested lane, reachable only at specific crossing points — marked in red along your own maze's edge, blue along your rival's. Cross into it and you can move freely along it — but you can never cross all the way through into your rival's private territory, and they can never reach yours.
• Every power-up in the game lives in that contested lane. Whoever reaches one first gets it — there's no duplicate, so if your rival grabs it, it's gone for you too.
• 👻 Phase lets you ignore walls entirely for 5 seconds — cut straight through your own maze in any direction. It never lets you break through the boundary into your rival's private territory, though; that line holds even while phased. If your rival grabs it, since true wall-phasing means nothing to a fixed-path AI, they get a modest forward burst instead.
• Power-ups have a 5-second cooldown — grab one and you can't use another for 5 seconds. Walking over a pickup while on cooldown does nothing at all; it stays right there, untouched, for whoever's actually free to use it.
• The contested lane isn't a place to camp: 8 seconds after entering it, you're automatically ejected back through the nearest crossing point on your own side — grab what you came for and get moving.
• Your rival always takes the shortest route through their own maze — but if they fall behind, they'll actively detour into the contested lane hunting for a power-up to close the gap.
• The moment either of you finishes, a 10-second countdown starts for whoever's left. Don't finish in time and that's a DNF — even if you were about to win.
• None of the power-ups ever block a cell or change either maze — worst case from getting hit is a delay, never a dead end, so the duel always stays winnable.
• The maze gets more tangled through the week — Monday's the easiest, Sunday's the hardest — and your rival gets faster right along with it. Pick a level, Beginner through Extreme, for both at once.
• Use arrow keys or swipe to move. Come back daily to build your streak.
