everything past your 3×3 square is a decoy that reshuffles every time you move — don't trust it, don't memorize it. a dashed gold trail marks the true path you've actually walked, and it retracts if you backtrack. Oil flasks only appear once you're standing next to them and refill your lantern. Run dry and your light shrinks to just the ground under your feet.
